Pointed gourd


Pointed gourd is one of the most important and nutritious vegetables belong to Cucurbitaceae family. It is also known as green potato and it is extensively used for various medicinal purposes.

Nutritional profile

  • It contains lesser amount of carbohydrates
  • It is loaded with dietary fibres
  • It contains too some extent of proteins as well
  • It contains negligible amount of fats
  • It provides lesser amount of energy on its oxidation due to its poor carbohydrate and fat contents thus it is considered as low calorie food
  • It is packed with several vital micronutrients like Vitamin C, Vitamin A, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, copper and potassium
